Following on from my other thread about doing a reinstall of windows for my dad, were now having a weird connection problem.
At first after i got the windows on, i lobbed the CD in, for what i thought would install his BTVoyager105 modem, then the software, but it turned out it was just installing the software, so i had to cancel that, as it was saying it couldn't find a connection to register (obviously
), anyway, after cancelling that i installed the modem drivers and started again, and this is where the prob comes in.
After starting the install again, it makes the connection (sometimes it was saying having technical difficulties so couldnt connect), then asks for a confirmation of the username and password, but it just keeps coming up in red below, to make sure its correct when you hit the next button after putting them in, so it won't go any further.
Also ive somehow got an AOL 9 icon on the desktop (probably from the install i tried before), but if i try to connect with that, it dials, connects up, then gives 2 options, new member or existing member, now we select exiting member, put in my dads username/password, but as soon as he clicks next it comes up in the middle straight away, a box with a red X saying they are invalid, so anyone got any ideas.
Oh before i forget, we had to get the AOL 9 CD sent out, as he couldn't find his, so i thought just lob it in, existing member, username/password yer away, but no lol.
Also the modem is installed and working fine, both lights are solid green, 2x green arrows flicking on/off as usual, and i tried both diagnostic tests, and it dials and connects fine (just doesn't load the BT page its trying to in explorer.
Also tried phoning them, but got stuck in a queue due to a high volume of calls (typical), so gave up.
I know i can make a manual connection (so he doesn't need the software) as i used to use a manual one when i was on AOL, so ill also try setting it up that way tomorrow, if i still get no joy.
Thanks for reading, and sorry its a bit long (which i also said to her, ohh err
)
