AOL/TalkTalk Issue

Hey, just got back from my mum's as she's been having trouble with her internet, Browsing etc. is fine, Come to download files it seems ok, as soon as you try and open the downloaded file, it's corrupt, this is on a brand new Msi laptop, and the same issue on her old Advent one.

Now I tethered my HTC Desire to it via Wi-Fi and files work flawlessly, She's been on the phone to them for nigh on 2 hours now and is getting nowhere, fobbed off with crap such as "But you're getting 7Mb download speed"

Anyone got any ideas what the issue is? I haven't come across this before.

It was working fine up until a week or so ago.
 
if you download fine and your mom doesnt, sure you have checked the pc rather then the internet connection for issues?

Only thing i can think off which wouldnt really is the mtu, other then that its pc based.
 
I don't see where I mention that I can download fine, As I said, I tethered my phone to her Laptop and it works perfectly, so it points to an issue with the broadband and not the Laptop, Surely ?
 
I could be wrong, but that doesn't sound like a Internet issue, but if you say it was the same on her old laptop, then i dont know

Have you tried downloading through AOLs software, then tried the same thing downloading through IE or Firefox? i know they download using the same line, but it might be something wrong with the download manager your using... maybe
