Hey,

This card has always ran pretty high temp 76-80C , which i bought on release day

however latelly its been running 80C-83C running RDR2 @4K

has anyone had sucess in good temp reductions changing the Paste on one of these?

Any chance it's just a bit of dust in the hearing restricting airflow?

If you have never repasted the card then a good clean and repaste will definitely improve things..

Always worth a try. Very easy process to replace so likely would make a difference with some decent quality paste. Not sure what gigabyte use, could be starting to dry up.

Have replaced it on other 1080Ti models before and it does make a difference.

Wouldn't it be because the ambient temp is higher at the mo, with the mild weather? Your temp has only gone up 4C.
My 1080Ti Hybrid has gone up a couple of degrees in this weather.

The arous 1080ti runs HOT tbh,

I had the extreme edition with a good cooper heatsink yet it was around 80/90c

can’t believe how much cooler a 2080ti strix is!!! Like 55/60c

also my mai gamingX 1080ti was pretty good 72/80c

I'm running the Aorus 1080Ti extreme but run my fan curve at a 1 : 1 ratio as in 50° = 50% fan speed, my GPU hasn't gone above 65° ever and as I use headphones in games then fan noise makes no difference to me.

If you've had it from new, and it's always run warm, then the factory paste may well be concrete by now. A decent thermal paste will help, or liquid metal as long as the cooler interface isn't aluminium.

You probably already have but as evohicks said above you need a custom fan curve with this card mines set to full speed at 70 degrees
