I’m considering purchasing either the Aorus 15G or 17G.

Just wondering if the 17G runs quieter and cooler than the 15G?

Also, how does the 300hz screen differ to the 240hz panel? Does one have a better contrast ratio, black level, response rate than the other? Or are they identical other than refresh rate?

Maybe @Atom80 could comment?

Thanks

Update

I ordered the Aorus 15G and it arrived today.

Initial impressions are very good. :)

I much prefer this over both the MSI GE66 and the Lenovo Legion 7i.

The keyboard is on a level that I didnt think was possible for laptops. Although it does take some getting used to.
It feels like a mixture of brown and blue switches, but low profile. Its a little louder than my old brown switch keyboard. I currently use a Ducky One2SF with Silent Reds which is quite a bit quieter than the 15G.

The display is the newer 300hz model. I don't know what the brightness goes up to in nits (and there are no reviews of the 300hz display) but is seems bright enough for indoor use and the colors look great. It doesnt support HDR like the Legion 7i does, but this one has no backlight bleed unlike my Legion 7i did. The display model is the Sharp LQ156M1JW17.

The chassis build quality tops both the GE66 and Legion 7i. I didn't like the cheap plastic underside of the GE66 and the Legion 7i, whilst better, didn't feel as solid as this does.

The sound quality is much much better than the GE66 but not as good as the Legion 7i. On a scale of 0 - 100, if the GE66 = 0 and Legion 7i = 100, I would rate the 15G at about 75/80 on sound quality.

The trackpad is super smooth and lovely to use. From memory the Legion 7i trackpad was not smooth and I had issues with the right click intermittently working. The GE66 trackpad worked well without issue but was not as smooth as the 15G trackpad.

Fan control is similar to the GE66 - with the option to set a custom fan curve. The Legion 7i does not have this option and is limited to 3 fan profiles.
The 15G doesn't appear to suffer from any fan whine though that I encountered with the GE66.

The keyboard lighting is similar to the GE66. I think both Aorus and MSI keylighting is very good - much better than the lighting on the Legion.

I haven't had a chance to play any games yet but I will report back when I have.

Thanks
