Hi,

My ethernet port seems to have stopped working - continues to state nothing is connected
  1. Its not cable, I've changed it and tested on another PC and is fine
  2. Its not the switch port, I've tested also switching around for another PC
  3. I've tried disabling/re-enabling the adaptor (device manager says its working fine)
  4. Doesn't appear to be any update for it
  5. WiFi USB dongle works (Also apparently I have onboard wifi I just installed but **** knows where antenna is lol) - so just ethernet specifically dead
  6. It was always a bit dodgy, when I boot PC it takes 10-15seconds when arriving on desktop for ethernet to work

Anyone experienced something similar or is this a order a replacement job? Any other options I should take?

Going to buy a PCI-E network card

Can't be arsed with RMA and dealing without a mobo for a period of time

That said - if anyone has thoughts and think if I'm missing something in troubleshooting would still appreciate input

only, to narrow it down to hardware, boot of a linux distro without installing it..

You can download and create a bootable USB stick with Linux on, e.g. https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

It'll load up the OS from the USB stick from there you can see if the onboard ethernet is working, if so, then it may be a software conflict in Windows, if not then you've at least got some idea that it looks to be hardware.

Alright something to poke around with at the weekend, thanks.
I suppose my larger concern is the board at large faulty/ticking time bomb or just the ethernet port/interface.

Another option is USB to ethernet, they're not expensive- and come handy for laptops (fresh install of windows, wifi card is not detected)
Considered this but didn't want to research if they have any limiting factors/issues due to being via USB for gigabit net.
