Aorus GTX 1080 Ti - Won't Downclock

Afternoon everyone,

I've just upgraded to a 1080 Ti from a 980 Ti and also paired it with a new monitor Acer Predator XB271HK (4K). I'm now having issues where the GPU wont downclock from full speed.

Some background information on the setup - I have the Predator set as my primary monitor with 2 additional monitors ether side both of which are 1080p.

The Predator and one of the 1080p monitors are connected using DP and DP to HDMI. The other is connected with HDMI.

I've had a look around on here and on Google and there are many people with similar issues, but i've not been able to find anyone with my monitor setup, to relate too.

I have followed steps to try and resolve the problem as I've been going along but nothing has worked. I've tried checking in the Nvidia control panel for "Power Management Mode" this is set to optimal power as has been from the get go. Tried changing the options but no luck there.

If i disable both my 1080p monitors the GPU downclocks instantly.

However if I disable just one of the monitors the GPU downclocks and stays there for the most part.

Is there anyone that can weigh in with similar issues? Or a way of fixing the above you've come across?

I've read from various sources it could be related to the 2D clocks not being able to handle all the resolution? But this just seems to be thrown around, and no actual proof.

Some images linked below showing the GPU behaviour.

Thats where i'm a little lost you see, before the upgrade I had 3 1080p monitors running, and no issues with downclock

It's both the memory and the core clock that stay boosted.

Hmm thats an option to consider, should it come to that. Hopefully not though.

I've had a look at the program you mentioned above. It works to a degree, but it appears as it forces a power state on the GPU it was causing the screen to flicker when a GPU intensive program was requesting more power but not getting it. There is a few settings to play with so i'll keep looking at this one, until like you said someone might hopefully chime in.
