Anyone recommend a motherboard for a 9950X3D? Never had an aorus before so wondering if anyone has any experience

I run an Aorus it has been pretty stable, performs well, seems to lack some of the tweaker options compared to what I have seen on here for the top end Asus things but it may be because I bought their Ai focussed board rather than one of the master boards but I was interested in the Dual 10G NICs.

I doubt you can go wrong with any of them.

What features do you want from the board? Asus TUF-Plus B850 has a good VRM/PCB spec, for example, but no USB4 and can be found under £200.

Ahh ok

Tbh decent enough to slap on a OC other than i dont need much bells and whistles, ill take a look at the tuff. Not used a b series before

Most people undervolt now instead of OC, so I can't give any advice on OC potential of any board, but the TUF has a good VRM and an 8-layer PCB. If I was running a 9950X3D flat out for long periods, I'd like something like the TUF or MSI's B850 Tomahawk.

The main difference between B850 and X870 is USB4. Gigabyte's B850 Aorus Elite would be fine, if that's what you're interested in, but the PCB is 6-layer and the VRM significantly weaker than the TUF-Plus or Tomahawk. You can see that in HUB's roundup, if you haven't watched it:

I second this. The x870 is closer to the b650 spec, so you'll want a good VRM setup and an 8 layer PCB. Buildzoid's reviews are always insanely helpful for picking a mobo (or knowing what to avoid).

I'd say factor in plenty of m.2 slots, but that's getting into financially ruinous territory.

besides USB4 You'll often find more gen5 M2 on 870 boards and a higher spec wifi7, not always the case, my 870 only has 1 gen 5 :( whereas the B850 variant of the Ai TOP has 2 gen 5.
