AORUS X5 with nVidia MAX-Q

Hi Guys

Any other new owners of this laptop? Wanting to hear your comments? Was just about to bite the bullet on an MSI laptop but reading about Gigabyte I might just give this a try :) or the 17" version

Any timescale on an ETA

Cheers Derek

Hi delpy8,

We would love to welcome you as a new AORUS customer - regarding delivery schedule, we expect some more X7 V7 and X7 DT to be heading to the UK next week. Some product was delivered, but sold on pre-order.

We will update again when we know goods have left.

Regards,

Team AORUS

Am I right in saying that I can run two nvme ssds in raid 0? If I so wished

If it's anything like the X5 V6 without max Q then yes, i am currently running that setup.

I have 2x 256gb nvme drive in raid 0 and one 120gb nvme drive on it's own. The is sadly limited to a sata bus but manages to pull around 900mb read anyway.gb

Running 2 x PCIe NVMe SSD's in RAID 0 brings no read speed benefits but write speed showed an impressive increase. I have 2 x 500GB Samsung 960 EVO's.

I'm thinking of ordering one of these and have a couple of questions:
1: I wan't to dual boot Windows/Linux, what is Linux compatibility like (e.g: Wifi, hibernation, GPU, etc)?
2: What's the chassis quality like Vs a Dell XPS 15... e.g: how solid does the unit feel? how cheap or premium does it look up close, etc.

Hi GunsAkimbo,

- Linux Ubuntu is basic compatible, but the BIOS can be "customised" further if needed and our R&D can do this for/with you should it be required

- We have plenty of positive reviews from end user and media partners regarding build quality, but obviously you will want to hear this from owners rather than us :-)

@MiSJAH posted detailed review of his X5 machine on OcUK forums, this machine is same chassis as the Max-Q version you are considering. (click on his "reviewed here" link in signature in post 24 in this thread)
