Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 RGB Header

I've just bought myself a Cooler Master H500. From the reviews it says you can plug the 2 200mm LED RGB fans straight into the motherboard for software control rather than using the controller and loosing the reset switch.

Being a complete noob with this I either think I'm doing something wrong or the Aorus Z370 does not have a RGB fan header.

I can see a 4 pin RGBW/RGB LED Strip Header. If I connect the fans 4 pin to this no LED's light up on the fans.
Just below the 4 pin RGBW/RGB Strip header is a 3 pin Digital LED Strip Header but the fans plug is a 4 pin.

Am I correct in assuming that the 4 pin RGBW/RGB header on the board is exclusively for LED strips and cannot be used to control the 200mm fans lighting?

Currently I'm using the included controller with the sata power connection with the loss of my reset switch.

Am I missing something here?

Thank you

Got the connector on right way around?
The 3 pin is for addressable leds
And those are 5v not 12v

Edit and can't see why fan leds would be any different to a led strip

And yes luckybenski is right
Plugging a 5v onto the 12v header will burn them out
Did it once with a nzxt hue+ strip as was down on hands and knees shining a torch in there to do it and the headers were right next to each other
It's amazing how much time you spend on your hands and knees shining a torch doing stuff with pcs lol
Yeah I know should disconnect everything and put pc on a table lol
But my pc weighs a lot and picking it up kills my prolapsed discs
