Hi,

Because i was having a dead spot right in the other side of my home, and i have the luxury of having cat6 everywhere, i picked up a Ubiquity UniFi AP.

Thinking i could just configure it to have the same SSID, example HOME-WLAN

I setup a static IP address on the AP, and gave it the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 (which is my router) Gave my AP a static IP of 192.168.1.100 as that was out of the DHCP scope. I also gave it the same SSID and password as my regular existing wireless network, however, i noticed it was showing TWO SSID's of the same name.

in other words, wifi devices (laptops, iPads etc) see HOME-WLAN twice.. I basically renamed one to be HOME-WLAN-AP but i was under the impression, i could just keep it the same name, and my wireless devices would just automatically switch to whatever had the stronger signal.

I set my main wireless/router to channel 11, and the AP to channel 5.

What part of the configuration am i missing?

Thanks in advance.
