Apache vs Fighter jet. . . What would win?

jet.

Both the jet and new Apache. Can target and launch long range missiles. But after that the jet is designed for closer combat.

what as it the new raptor managed, was something like it took out 15-20 of the current fighters before getting taken out in a test?

Jet, provided the pilot keeps a distance. Otherwise an Apache or similar craft like the KA-50 would be able to swing 180' and fire an IR missile at the rear of the jet as it passes by.

jet is slightly more likely to be able to avoid a missile though :p

You think?
They have similar incoming missile detection and similar countermeasures, neither can just outrun a modern air-air missile and a gunship has enough power to make very sharp course changes at low speed, much sharper than many missiles (not all obviously). Attack gunships have been known to avoid ground to air missiles at much shorter range than air-air would be launched from.

The best and only example of this I can think of is in the battlefield 2 intro video.

Sorry I just wanted to say that :p

In all seriousness though, yes, a helicopter would be quite apt at avoiding a missile with it's agility.
