APB: Reloaded

Invites for the closed beta go out next week I think. Will be interesting to see how bad this game has been hammered with micro transaction nonesense with this new company making it free to play. If it's anything like APB and has the same basic 3 mission types (chase these, kill those, break into that place and steal x,y,z) then I can't see it lasting much longer.

So it's true? If they're going to make this work again, it's need to have a free to play model.

It's not a scam, they are mass sending emails to all who were in the last beta/paid to play it etc. Got mine this morning, when you sign up they just ask you if you want to sign up for the beta. Should start up next month.

From what I've heard, the company that bought it when APB went down the pan has numerous free to play MMO's that are all no doubt micro transactioned to death. Never played any of them so not sure how they are or if they are any good. APB is going to the F2P model so I am guessing styles, weapons, cars, items will all have a small charge to them instead of the monthly fee. I will play the beta and see what its like now but as I wasn't that impressed after the first beta this would have to have a bucket load more story/content added to it to make it even half interesting atm.

A joke, surely. This is a game with one of the worst reputations.
At what time do you think the publishers thought this was doing well enough to warrant a new installment? Or is it a dedicated band of merry developers? Poor sods.

Rockstar needs to make a MMO GTA, with open ended gameplay like Eve Online. Lots of legitimate jobs to earn money, or run the risk of crime to get cash. Player owned houses/apartments would be cool. Organising a clan to become mafia like and run parts of a city would be epic

APB had promise but it was pants imo

its not the same devlopers as last time...

On 11 November 2010 online games company, K2 Network, purchased APB for £1.5 million.[7] On 16 November 2010 K2 subsidiary company Reloaded Productions, announced that APB will be renamed APB Reloaded[2] and relaunched during the first half of 2011 as a free to play game.[8][30]

You are of course entitled to your own opinion however in this instance I feel the urge to point how ignorantly uninformed you are.

As has now been covered in this thread, the rights to APB were purchased by an entirely seperate company specialising in free-to-play games. The game is being brought up to the level it was meant to be at before the muppets that managed Realtime Worlds forced the game to be released.

The game was also really enjoyable to play for those who gave it more than 3 minutes play time. It was being ruined by cheaters and glitches for sure, but that was down to the farce that was RTW, not the core game itself. If the game was trash, no other company would have paid to take it on.

Please at least try to have a correct opinion before you go spouting off about things you have no clue about. I bet you never even tried the game, just jumped on the muppets bandwagon.

In other news, I don't think I've got an e-mail yet but I did apply to be advised when the closed beta sign-ups were available. Looking forward to it. A friend and I put a lot of hours into APB and we are looking forward to getting back to San Paro!

Got my email - signed up :-)

Really enjoyed APB and made good progress - would have quite happily carried on playing if they hadn't shut it down.

At least the beta will keep me going until Planetside Next lands! The NC Tank and Gal models gave me super goosebumps!

hmm fat chinese kid in bright pink and green may be terrorizing the streets again. Nothing like seeing a 46" dude hop over a fence to shot gun you in the face.

though i didnt get an email... and i was one of the early beta testers...

I loved APB faults and all, im glad its coming back and we are getting all our gear and characters back aswell...happy days.

Ive been in a bit of a gaming wilderness with nothing keeping me up late on a school night (if you know what i mean)

People would be best to try it for free before writing it off, i think the game was heading in the right direction before it closed down and can only get better (some would say it couldnt get any worse :))

I tried this after the original folded and was mightily impressed.

Cool, I can still install from Steam - lol

The final update really was an "OMG" moment.

They corrected soo much, and the next update looked even more impressive.
