Hi all,

Thought I'd post in here rather than apple software as I imagine you lot are more knowledgeable:)

Right...

I've got an old aperture library which I've loaded up and I want to organise all the photos... I'm not interested in using aperture anymore, as unfortunately my mac struggles to run it! (powerbook g4), so I just want to have my photos organised in folders on my harddrive.

Basically, is there a way to export the albums I have in aperture (which were originally migrated from iphoto) to a file structure on my hard drive?

The screenshot below shows a typical folder/sub folder/sub folder/album setup that I've got in aperture. Don't ask, it's very disorganised! Comes from me just chucking everything in iphoto.

I would basically like this folder/album structure physically represented on my hard drive, and then I can set about sorting them all.

Hope this makes sense, and thanks for any help.

Are you going to use Aperture on another machine?

I think a way you can do it is Vault your folders then move them, then reload them into another machine with Aperture. Vaulting saves all your pictures/masters/adjustments etc

No. Once they're all where I want them I'll prob put them on my PC which can handle them and find some photo organising software that suits.

Does this mean I won't be able to use 'vault' as it is only viewable in aperture?

Basically, I want this (Aperture structure)

To be replicated like this (folder structure in explorer/finder)

I think you might be right:(

I might just have to go scouring my computer for all the locations and doing it manually!

Yea Vault is so that you can move stuff over to another or upload to another Aperture.

And no you cant keep that structure over to Windows as its not read in the same way... So you'll have to do it manually.
