aperture or photo elements12

I'm more concerned about organising my photos but will do some editing.i feel iPhoto is taking over so wonder if aperture might feel the same.
A fresh start with PE might be good but would welcome an experienced view.

Lightroom is the best organisational and light editing tool IMHO.

Either lightroom or aperture. I find aperture far faster to use than lightoom, but I do like the fact that lightroom has a watermarking tool built into it and recovers shadows better.

Aperture is very similar to Lightroom, so best to try the trials of each and see what you prefer or is faster on your system.

Also James J, Aperture does have a watermark tool built in.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, what's the difference between Elements 12 and Light-room given they are both Adobe? Also, is there anything to be had over buying Elements 12 Premium over standard Elements 12?

Is there anything to be said for GIMP?

Lightroom is a better workflow then Elements. Lightroom also gives more control over RAW images, with better options and editing techniques available. Some people use Lightroom as their photo organisation, light editing and publishing software and use Elements as the external editor.

GIMP is ok. I had it for a long time on Ubuntu/MINT but it's not very intuitive. Well, it wasnt for me. That said for free software it's insanely powerful, it's just not as quick to learn as the Adobe software.

Another vote for Lightroom but take a look at the Adobe CC offers.. there was an offer of Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for £8.78 a month, the offer was supposed to end on the 31st December but I just checked and it's still there :

That's pretty good pricing. It's worth it if you think it's a good spend. Sorry that's vague but it's really up to you. It's cheap, yeah.

I'd say Lightroom is a must really.

Does anyone happen to know what the performance is like on Elements 12? I used 10 and it was okay for what it does/did. I only use it about 5% of the time, if that, but it's handy when you need it. I upgraded to 11 when I saw it cheap and it's horrid and sluggish. Has 12 sorted out this? My pc isn't exactly slow either, but it just runs like a dog where Photoshop seemed fine, as does Lightroom.
