My Dad owns the domain i/we currently use and we both want to keep that. But i dont really have time anymore to do any website stuff anymore so he recommended i just get email hosting. He uses APM Mailcore and says they seem pretty good. It's nice and cheap too.

I want to consolidate all my email address ([email protected], gmail, maybe hotmail) and collect them all into one IMAP email box. I like the idea of it being the same wherever i login from. :)

I'm a bit confused about a couple of things on their website though. Would i need more than one mailbox for all those^ email addresses? I'm thinking not..? Also, it says "Included in your package: 100 MB. You have up to 4GB (4000MB) in storage.". Is it 4GB or 100MB?

Thanks in advance!

I guess no one uses them! Can anyone answer my questions about them though? Is 100Mb/4GB enough storage for an IMAP account?

I use them and they are excellent, well recommended. Spam filter is really good and the servers are all nice and fast. On the few ocassions I've used their support they've been pretty good as well.

Thanks guys. Would one mailbox be ok to receive 2 addresses/aliases from my domain, plus fetch mail from my Gmail/hotmail? :)

Why not use Google Apps?
Do you mean Gmail's imap service? Because i will need something to actually host my domain email addresses when we stop paying for the webhosting it's currently on.

However i did read an ad in my Gmail about hosting domain email addresses. I clicked through to Google Apps but couldnt find anything. Is it free? Please do link me!

www.google.com/apps

You just need a domain provider that will host the DNS for you, so that you can edit the MX records to point at Google's servers. You can then create up to 100 email accounts @yourdomain.com that you can use with google's webmail systems etc.

Not sure how you plan to get your hotmail emails in there though?

Thanks. The domain is hosted and yeah my Dad can change the MX records to point anywhere. Seems like that might work then.

I thought you could set up Hotmail to work in clients (i.e. with POP)? I assumed you could do it with IMAP, but now i'm thinking not! I'm not too fussed if i dont, though.

Thanks everyone. I've signed up and begun setting up a Google Apps account for my domain. Currently i have 3 email addresses on my domain, [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] -- am i right in setting up 3 accounts on my Google apps with those email addresses? Then when the MX records get changed to point to Google, they should all continue to work? I sign into Google Apps now as [email protected], do i need to set it up somewhere to check those other accounts as well?

Also, isnt it a bit daft that you cant sign up/in with an existing Gmail account to merge them automatically? I guess i'll need to setup my new Google Apps account to check my Gmail account via POP3. Isnt that a bit daft?

Aaaaalso, is there any way to change the folders (or add some) in Gmail? I tried using IMAP on my old Gmail account and to be honest it looks a bit naff!

Thanks in advance.

Oh, and if a mod is passing could they change the thread title to 'APM Mailcore (Google Apps imap help?)'. Thanking you!
