Apocalypse Happened would you?

Say an Apocalypse event happened where a large population of the world died, all governments broke down taking police and medical centers with it, Obviously society will go to pot pretty quickly, I believe it will be everyone out for themselves, I personally will be out to look after my family at any cost, I would trust no one.

What would be the first item's you go for?

1. FOOD
2. WEAPONS
3. MEDICINE
4. SOME SORT OF RURAL STRONGHOLD
5. OTHER (PLEASE SPECIFY)

I personally would go straight for Weapons before anything else, I believe that if you have weapons and are willing to use them then all the other things would come to you.

what would you do?
 
I notice a lot of answers are regards you on your own, I think the dynamic would change drastically if you had your family and especially children with you. This is why weapons would be my first choice for protection.

I think it show the different mindset from people with children and people without, Before i had any kids i would be much the same.
 
Remote locations is a must, On the way i would raid B&Q and get myself a load of windturbine's, solor panels and generators to give me some electricity, I would need to set up some sort of security camera system on my newly acquired house in the middle of know-where, set to work on building a large possibly electrified fence to keep nasty people out.

If not a rural area then an island just off of the coast like that st Michaels island, good for defensive and lots of green land for cattle and crops and also has the ability to access the mainland at low tide.

Personally though, I think you'd be an idiot to be putting Weapons as the first priority on the list.

Food & Water should be the priority.

To be getting weapons to go around killing or robbing people seems a bit silly. I also believe that the majority of people in society would not descend to this level until food supplies were really running low. That's certainly what's been theorized.

I must admit i disagree, I very much doubt that everyone raiding a specific food outlet will think to themselves "i will only take the food and water i need and leave some for other people" or they will be unlikely to form an orderly line whilst small rations are handed out to them.

I know i wouldn't which is why if i have a gun and no one else does, I get to take what i want and the people who didn't get weapons get to starve.

Survival of the fittest.
