apocolypse survival kit

I'm surprised how many peoples carry round apocalypse survival kits would have them shot by an armed response unit long before the apocalypse comes :p

I think the apocalypse may cull a few of these people though :p

Not before every single shop has been looted and burned in the anarchy and social breakdown in the lead up to the apocalypse.

In reality you'd have to begin hoarding tinned goods years earlier, in a place that nobody can find or follow you to, and that you yourself can reach swiftly and safely when the crucial time comes.

The most important thing, other than provisions, is an off-road motorcycle, because the roads will be rammed with abandoned cars. Fuel will need to have been hoarded at your secure hidden food store.

What if the apocalypse is a sudden worldwide event, like say the core of the earth heats up rapidly and in the space of a day the pressure realeased throughout the planet wipes out most of human life with noxious fumes or similar.

Or what if aliens!

Why are people saying mobile phones? Surely nobody is going to be there to maintain the networks, and on the first few days EVERYONE will be trying to contact their family and friends, it's bad enough on New Year's Eve, can you imagine if it was a zombie apocalypse, or aliens, or something?

My answer would be food, water, maps, clothes, toiletries, blankets, batteries, a torch and a survival knife for cutting/crafting things! Not a piece of glass and plastic that will end up being useless that's for sure. :p
