Christ, that sounds awful.

Complete lies. and TRUTH!

they do a lot of metallica covers with orchestra, there metallica stuff is good, there normal stuff is awesome!

seen them live basically 3 celloists, and a drummer.

they started as a metallica tribute
and were absolutely awesome
they've since started working commercially with their own stuff
and it's just as good if not better
saw them live and they were fantastic

spot on.

I actually bought their Metallica CD and promptly gave it away soon after, awful piece of rubbish, even worse than S & M. :)

i love s&m so just different strokes i guess

S&M was awesome IMO.
Properly epic and outstanding. I love it. :D

Will give the new apocalyptica record a listen. Only heard a couple of songs...

i saw them live (download last year) before i'd heard any of their recorded material, i came back after that weekend and ordered all of it.
they are a *stunning* live band, so much energy and so much skill - i was disappointed when they didn't end up supporting rammstein later in the year.
i can understand why 'an orchestral metallica tribute' wouldn't sound like it were to everyones tastes - but they are deffinitely worth a listen.

And Kev just knew I was going to agree.
Saw Apocolyptica and for two minutes they were 'simply amazing' but anymore than that and I wanted the stage to open up.
Very talented but so what.
If you like this stuff then go and buy the originators of this kind of style who are called Rondo Veneziano.
I was buying their stuff in the early 80's.

I only heard two tracks, the covers of Fade to Black and One.

Both are awesome, and any non-metallica fan wouldn't have a clue they were covers of metallica tunes. They even play the solo in One

Speaking of interesting Metallica covers... check out 'Fade to Bluegrass'.. which is basically Metallica as played by some bluegrass band, fade to black and nothing else matters are definately worth a listen. They've got great harmonies going on.

Apocalyptica are brilliant :) if you have a chance, try and watch a video they did.

It was Apocalyptica + Nina Hagen (sooooooooo hot!!!) covering Seemann. Awesome awesome song.
