APOX (RTS) released on Steam

looks good but limited ammo in an rts ?

It's not limited, you make it in ammo factories or loot it from dead enemies.

I decided to buy this and it's actually very fun. The resource management is refreshing, it's all about building the bigget fuel pipeline between factories, so you're able to roll out the best vehicles. There is also "heavy metal" which is a precious resource, if you get enough of it you can build superweapons and heavy tanks/defences.

The units are cool. There's a nice variety of infantry and vehicles. There's also a cover system as well as crouching, lying prone etc. The vehicles all look like something from scrapheap challenge, it reminds me of the old Warzone game.

Just been playing bot games so far. The AI was challenging at first on medium, but after a few games I managed to beat it.

The graphics are not the game's strongest point, but I'm sure you'll be grateful that nobody is blazing 8x AA ultra-high crysis mode on their lowly PIII when you play a large online game (it goes up to 32 player ).

Also the tutorials are bland and a bit of a grind, but the game really makes up for it in skirmish mode so I'm very happy with the purchase.

Deffo deserves more players, although a word of warning for anyone who's anal about DRM.. you have to be online ALL the time to play. It has caused a bit of an uproar on the forums but I don't see the problem tbh, as who in this day and age isn't online 24/7 anyway? At least there isn't an install limit.

Anyway, snap it up while it's on offer and you prob won't be disappointed :)

So you can't play on a laptop while travelling, or whenever there's a fault on your broadband? Is this a UBIsoft game perchance?

Still refuse to buy any game with this sort of anal DRM, I'm afraid. Cheers for the heads up though! :)

thanks for the feedback
it sounds like ammo is the resource (or one of) to collect then. sounds pretty good but like others have mentioned the drm is a bit of a kicker.
