I've got a Powerbook G4 12" which I've installed MS Virtual PC on. I've installed a proper version of Windows XP Professional, fully patched and licenced and now I want to run an application which is on a CDROM provided by a training company. The application runs fine on a PC and is shockwave based. On the Mac however, although everything seems to run fine under VPC, the application crashes with an access violation (0xC0000005) error stating that "run.exe" encountered a problem. I've installed the latest shockwaver version (and previous ones) with no luck so far and in all instances, Shockwave runs fine on the Adobe test page.

If it runs fine on a PC then why are you testing it on a virtual pc ?

Just wondering because it seems a bit of a hassle if you have a PC to test it on, however that might not be the case, I don't know :o

Can't you Google the error code?
The person I'm testing it for has a Mac and needs to run this particular disk for her University course. It works fine on a PC, but she hasn't got one, she's only got a Mac which is why I thought she could at least run the VPC emulator to use the disk. Put it this way, if she can't run the disk she's going to replace the Mac with a PC  I have no "allegiance" to any particular computer but I said the emulator would almost certainly run it and it would be easier to use the Mac if possible rather than replacing it with a PC. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The access violation error code is pretty meaningless as it happens and I've seen it so often that I know there is no point in googling it. :(
