Hi,

Currently trying to Rip all of my CD's to MP3. I am currently using media monkey however it seems to rip all the tracks and stores them as Unknown tracks from and unknown album. I then have to go through, rename all the tracks etc etc etc.

It's taking a bleedin age to do!

Is there a faster app that will rip them all from CD and automatically search for the correct info on the track and apply it?

Or am I stuck doing it this way?

Exact Audio Copy is probably the best free ripping app (and arguably the best bar none). It's not the simplest to set up optimally, but there are plenty of tutorials on the interwebs and you only do it the once. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly and all that.

You can set it up to name and tag files automatically using freedb, but in my experience you end up spending practically as much time correcting all the retarded spelling mistakes as you would have done entering the details manually in the first place. :(

EAC is definitely the best.

Just get the LAME Encoder, and use the database built into EAC that'll tag everything for you.

Really simple and the best free app there is in my opinion.

Another vote for EAC, but as mentioned their online database is good but keep Wikipedia/Amazon/etc website(s) open just in case :)

Another vote for EAC, it's an absolutely fantastic program once you have it configured properly. There are loads of tutorials around on the net like CaptainCrash says to help get you started. :)

The best ones for ripping music I've found:

EAC
CDex

If you want a tag editor too, then these are the best ones I've found:

EasyTAG
Mp3tag

EAC with the Lame MP3 encoder is . bledd has a heavily modified version of EAC which is just the EAC installer with the Lame MP3 encoder pre-packed I think. Its an older version of EAC as well so get the current EAC build and download the Lame MP3 encoder and yer laffin'. :)
