App Store charging too much?

I have noticed recently that on my iPhone 3GS, when I buy an app, it is costing me £1 more than it actually says on the App Store. This may not sound like a lot, but when the most expensive App I have bought is 79p, it is a lot.

I am awaiting an E-mail from apple support about this, but the people in store said they can't see how it was a fault of Apple/ the app store.

Anyone any idea what may be happening here?

No, only iPhone apps appear when you browse the store on the device.

Universal apps (which do appear on the device) cost more than iPhone-only apps.
