Apple 12.9" iPad?

I'm not in to iPads, but I would like a 13-15" 16:10 tablet, I've always found 10" tablets too small. I hope Apple do one because it'll prompt others to do them.

What's wrong with being given an option? I don't expect that they will halt production of the mini and 9.7" if they release a larger one.

Don't get me wrong. For some people, they'll like the idea of having a bigger screen.

For me, its just way too big..

It's not often my ipad leaves the house so it could easily be this size without being a problem. The only problem I see is that people can't see passed that idea of having 2-3 options in size. They only want the size they want to be made. Like if people say there might be a 4" iphone and a 4.7", People moan.

It's just the way you presented it as you want them to not make a larger one that I found a bit odd.

Like mame says, some people seemingly want Apple to not make things if they don't want them at the expense of being given a choice.

I'm not saying that you're saying this, it's just the impression I got.

"The new iPad Pro is the first of it's kind. *added creative blab*" Jony Ive, 2014. ;)

They just need to make a larger iPhone. I'm not sure if a larger iPad really is needed; this production could just be for a retina MacBook Air at the end of next year after all?

Yea should have made it a bit more clear on my previous post.

Another rubbish article for page hits, nothing more. As most of these things are, citing sources as 'a person familiar with the matter'.

Would definitely be in the queue for this if it happens, although i can see it being big ££.
On the pther hand, wonder if it might be a full blown OSX tablet?

As ajf says, I would only really be interested in this if it was OSX. If it's iOS, then i'll stick with my air thanks very much.

OSX would be outstanding on a 13 inch tablet though. Almost big enough for a full scale keyboard on screen.

This will cost a lot of money... and it will never have the power of an MBA...

So what are the benefits? Yes you could browse the internet more easily with the larger iPad but (personally) I'd be too tempted by the air and its increased power. Of course we don't know what is under the hood of this new iPad, but in terms of OS... iOS is severely locked down in comparison to OSX (however with the homogernisation of programs over the two platforms this may be a redundant argument)

Unfortunately I can't see this happening...

Homogenisation is going the other way... OSX is becoming more like iOS and not the other way round.

Too big for me, the Mini is ideal for my use but I'm all for giving folk choice :)

So long as they do this...

Some websites claim this might be the iPad Pro... Pro suggests something more than the air and the mini... That would mean if I want the added power I'd be 'forced' to get the larger display - (I'm happy and love the size of the mini!)

I don't think it will come down to that though and it'll just be called the iPad (with the Air and mini keeping their names).

If it's going to run OSX I'd want it to have a good keyboard and USB ports/card reader etc. At which point it becomes a touchscreen MacBook hybrid.

If they were going to do something like that I'd imagine they'd create a special dock for it (built in keyboard, USB, card reader, thunderbolt? etc...) But as you said it moves away from its main purpose and in your case a MB hybrid or in mine a iMac hybrid
