Hi Guys,

My mate is selling his Cinema Display and i am wondering should i buy it or not, i do need a monitor but not sure what to go for.

I mainly need it for Gaming and to stream the odd Blu Ray.

Do u guys think the Cinema screen would be good for Gaming and Blu Ray or should i go for something like the Dell 24" everyone is raving about???

Nah wouldn't bother if you're only going to game on it. It's an awesome screen though (i have the 20").

How much is he letting it go for?

That's pretty cheap though.... I'd probably pick it up if i had some cash. Some of these screens had problems with being pinky on one side, make sure it's even colouring across if you do go for it.

The other dell was that U version going for £450 ??
And ummm my budget well im buying a pc as well so dont wanna spend more then £350-400.

Its the DVI Version

Ah, well in that case you got yourself a great deal, so long as the monitor is in good nick and there are no pixel defects.

The 23 ACD uses a very nice S-IPS panel. The response time is 16ms, perhaps not ideal for fast gaming, but it probably won't affect you much at all.

Alternatively, you could get a new Dell 2209WA. This monitor costs the same, but is 1 inch smaller and the resolution is 1680x1050. With that in mind, it is a fantastic monitor, it uses a lovely e-IPS panel and has low response time and input lag - so gaming on it is great. Also, as it is new you get 3 years of Dell's excellent warranty.

So would the DVI version be alright for Gaming then i dont obviously want input lag and all that :)

Thanks in advance for your great help :P

Will he let you try it playing a game to make sure theres no ghosting?

The reason i ask is that these monitors were not designed for gaming they were aimed at image editing and graphics.

£250.00 is a steal.

Aye, the DVI version is preferable as they were made for longer and require less faff to connect to a PC.

Input lag shouldn't be a problem - IPS isn't generally bad for it. It is just some VA panels that have some big numbers for input lag. Heck, the monitor I use is supposed to be the among the worst and I can't tell - I play online FPS games all the time and It works great. As for response time, the ACD states a pretty high number - but I'm led to believe that it is really as fast as most TNs with no ghosting.

All in all - nice price, very nice monitor.

I use one of them at work, it's a very nice monitor indeed. One thing i've noticed about apple monitors is the quality control, we've got 12 23" and 2 30" versions in the studio and none of them have dead/stuck pixels or uniformity issues.
