i cant see that tbh
how will they be able to not allow 3g users to install via itunes, it automaticaly recognises a new update and ask you to install, its not going to determine a 3g from a 3gs on the itunes splash screen

Well it's just like 3.0 being not fully compatible with the 2nd gen iPhones, really. Maybe parts of it will be removed then - but tbf what would be left? 3G won't support multi-tasking for a start and that's gonna be a pretty prominent feature. It's exciting waiting anyway 
iPhone 3GS/iPod touch Third-Gen
Both of these will get full compatibility — the whole shebang. Note that the third-gen iPod will only support all the new features on models with 32 or 64GBs of memory; the 16GB model was really a second-gen iPod, which is discussed below.
