I think the Reality Distortion Field induced hype around this thing just because it's "made" by Apple needs to be toned down.

If it was called the LX1234XYZ and not actively marketed to us by Apple, no one would give a hoot.

Well that's the thing. Apple are masters of naming their own hardware sub-components. The A4, Retina Display, Facetime as recent examples - and the press and us consumers just eat it up.

BURN these Apple doubters immediately.

All these chips are leased designs from ARM anyway, as long as they pay ARM for the IP they can tweak it anyway they want! Thats why Apple doesn't need to buy ARM.

Well the idea is to differentiate by having the hardware but over time they will design features for security into it.
