Apple A7 benchmarks

I think some people above are too quick to jump to conclusion (and rude as well) just because someone expressing what he thinks lacking about the Apple product. It was my first EVER post on a forum (internet even) discussing about mobile phone, and people reacted like I killed their entire family :/ Seriously the Apple cult is scary...

gary has well over 2k posts. I own a galaxy S2, iphone and a blackberry. Some screens are too large, dont freak out - if you cry over these posts you wont last long on any forum tbh.

I once saw a tiny asian woman with teeny tiny little hands texting away on the original note at the speed of light (in korean).

I think she might have been a robot. I can't even text properly on my S3.

I will last fine on the forum :p I am just disappointed with how people are quick to over-react on this forum, with the similar characteristic to the PS vs Xbox fanboys.

I don't get your comment though marine. Nobody posting here matches your criteria and the forums are here for people to discuss opinion. It is valid to say that I dont like phone x as the screen is too large and I want it to fit comfortably in my pocket, not because I am a branded fanboi.

I do agree with the minority of posters being "quick to over-react" but you will never suppress this category from doing so. :)

No those comments you referring to are fine, as the posters are just stating their opinions like me and I respect that. I was more referring to post like #7 and #8.

I see, nowt to worry about then. Performance wise the phone has been pretty solid for me will have more opinion of the new OS in around a week of playing with it.

You hijacked a thread about the A7 in the CPU section to start ranting on about how Apple are idiots for not providing larger screens and you're saying the "Apple cult is scary"?!

What I meant was if Apple was smart, with the 4" phone which many people deem to small, they should release a 5.5" to 6" variant as well for those that want phone of that size, rather then pushing their existing and potential customers away toward their competitions. It's not exactly rocket science, it's just simply business concept.

Yeah of course, Apple are idiots who know nothing at all about what the market wants. That's how they've become so successful

How about you try to understand that not everyone wants a phone with a stupidly large screen on it? Perhaps some of us want something that actually fits in a pocket and can be used comfortably one-handed. Maybe, rather than attacking everyone who disagrees with you as being part of some "Apple cult", you entertain the possibility that not everyone shares your opinions?

Come on now... let's stop talking about iPhones (if you want to talk about that, there's a dedicated section right here) and stick to the original topic: the A7 SoC.

Seeing as Apple jumped ahead to the ARMv8 ISA first in the smartphone world, and Samsung also announcing they will next year as well (probably with the A57/53), do you think we'll see companies such as AMD joining in? Nvidia has Project Denver but that seems to be a good while away (apparantly aimed for Tegra 6 in 2015)...

Also, I wonder if Apple now fully designing their own CPU cores mean anything in the future... maybe we'll see future Macs using them...

May be this entire thread should be moved over to the Apple Hardware forum? Cause to non-mobile crazed people like me, the A7 IS the iPhone 5S (in a sense), and it IS Apple hardware. At least it will keep hypocrite like Vertigo1 in that part of the forum. I was just having a normal discussion stating my opinion and then all of suddenly came people like him bashing me and making a scene. They could have said it in a civil manner like you did to remind people to keep the discussion to the CPU only, but no they had to be rude and disrespectful like those fanboys that frequent the PS vs Xbox boards.

The irony is looking back at all the posts here in this thread, there's mostly been constructive and meaning for discussion here with everyone stating their own opinion, if not for #7 and #8 posts ruining things here. Quite frankly though, it's rather impossible to discuss strictly about mobile CPU without involve the talks of phones as well, as they are quite interrelated, more so when it comes to the A7 and the 5S. I didn't bash anyone's opinion at all, as I understand everyone has different preference and I respect that, but the guys that were bashing me clearly don't understand that. Funny enough, Vertigo1 accuse me of "attacking others whose opinions are different" (which I'm innocent of) is actually what he's guilty of (as demonstrated by his utter disrespect toward my opinion in #8.

Anyway, it's good that the A7 is performing well. Apple's being give lower spec than people's money deserve for a long time...it's about time that they make a change and give some decent performance for peoples' money. But I still think they should release a 5SL or something, a 5.5" ish phone as a alternative option to the 5S for people who want larger screen.

Why should this be moved to an Apple forum??

This is the CPU forum, which deals with CPUs including ARM and MIPS based one.

If this forum cannot be a place to talk about non-X86 CPUs what is the whole point of a CPU forum? You might as well name it an x86 CPU forum if you cannot talk about them. I doubt I will ever buy an iPhone myself, but what the heck has the A7 SOC got to do with whether iPhones are good or not??

Does anyone care if a Core i5 is in a crappy pre-build Ebay PC?? Nope. The CPU forums,at least what I though it was,was a place to talk about CPUs. The A7 is the first 64 bit ARM based SOC and the first of many. It is a preview of what we will be getting from ARM licensees in the next year.

Samsung,Qualcomm,Nvidia and AMD are all releasing them. You know, other companies??

Bay Trail(or Jaguar) and lower end X86 CPUs are now going to start facing stiff competition on both processing power and power consumption from ARM based SOCs,made on commodity process nodes optimised for density. Thats means not just tablets for media consumption and phones are where ARM is going to be relevant, but also more productivity based devices, all in the biggest parts of the market.

Heck,ARM is British company,so at least for many on this forum,it should be kind of nice to see them doing well as a result.

Yea but the A7 is specifically an Apple Hardware I think? Considering there's a dedicated "Apple Hardware" forum, wouldn't it be the more appropriate place to post this?

Ah right, then I see what you are getting at.

No. Its significance is that it is the first 64 bit ARM core, and the fact it has great performance and power consumption.

Its a good preview of what Samsung,Qualcomm,Nvidia and AMD are releasing in the next year and multiple devices bought by millions of people are going to be used by them.

It is also means that instead of tablets and phones, the ARM SOCs are starting to have enough power for more powerful devices,in areas where Intel and AMD have traditionally not had much competition.
