apple account hacked

My itunes account has been hacked and gift cards have been purchased, lots of them, what do I do? I have removed the account from my iTunes account but how do I get a refund and how can this have happened?! I have emailed Apple, changed all my passwords and what not. I'm not really sure how they could ever have gotten my info as I don't pirate games, use unsecure wifi or download dodgy things...

I wonder if its what type of email account you use? I often wonder if its poor 'Secret Questions' that they are able to hack into email and then request password from iTunes?

I always put the secret question to something not related to my answer. That way it can't be guessed.

your bank will get you your money back if apple dont

ive been the victim of similar and the bank instantly sorted it. just made sign a form to confrim that it wasnt me who used the account my card was linked too

That's the thing, I figure I'm too smart for both of those things, maybe there is just something I downloaded or clicked that I didn't realise was unsafe, but as I said, I don't pirate or download willynilly.

I use a hotmail account with a decent password that is now changed, and my secret question I don't think could be guessed with ease even if I told you a bit about the history that it involves.

I don't delete emails nor have I received anything indicating I had requested my password in my inbox or deleted folder.

What is a little annoying is seeing on my iTunes account how there is now 3 machines authorised, my PC, my iPhone and now....?

Contact Apple/iTunes (explain the situation) and request that they deauthorize all of the devices associated with your account.

Are you sure the iPhone counts as one? Mine says one machine is authorised, my PC, and my iPhone can download too.

Maybe browser/flash/reader/java/OS was compromised.
