How is it on my brother's Macbook, his iPhone is plugged in and within seconds it is syncing away without any problems.

On my Vista laptop which has a respectable 2gig/ram, 2.00GHZ duo core etc (so not too slow) iTunes works about 1 in 20 times. It takes 20 minutes to validate the iPhone, it then jams about 25% of the time mid-sync. It's other favourite trick is jamming whilst on the music store. Now before anyone gives me stick, I have literally JUST today re-formatted my system and voilla... same problems.

I don't care what Apple say but it seems to me they are deliberately putting bugs in the Windows version of iTunes. I really do want to see some sort of investigation into this because it seems to me all Windows users have problems with iTunes on a regular basis.

Its due to the fact that everything is so well tested with every component and the software with OSX.

Windows well anything could be causing the issue but id bet its something to do with the USB drivers or possibly power consumption from your USB ports. Its probably not windows - itunes related otherwise nobody would be able to use it.

It's because iTunes on Windows is a heap of crap. Apple cannot write Windows software, it's beyond their abilities.

Why should they address it? It basically works, I've had no issues here, nor have many people I know, that's the problem with such proliferation of hardware, and software on Windows environment, they will never want to devote the time and resources to itunes on Windows to address issues from numerous configurations :) there's no point, ultimately they'll want people to buy Macs.

I doubt they put bugs into itunes deliberately, but I know under hte hood from using itunes on Windows compared to OS X that it runs horribly on Windows, I love it on OS X however, from integration, stability etc :)

Personally I only use itunes for playlists > upload to my iphone, for local playback I use one of the many good free players, like Foobar :)

Maybe their engineers have been diverted to the largely pointless exercise of maintaining Safari for Windows D:

Why's that smiley face? That attitude would be half-hearted and poor treatment of the end users. If they're going to do something, they should do it right.

why don't you go tell someone who can do something about it then? apple store or a support line?

Its hardly going to be a deliberate issue, seeing as though that would pretty much cut of a large proportion (majority?) of the user base of the iphone.

Factoring in the volume of windows users over OSX users that will own iphones id say the problem is minor.

Can you post the search that you used in google to get all these thousand results as I cant mimic it with the obvious fields.

Ultimately they don't design for Windows, they released a functional piece of software based upon their testing and feedback, if it doesn't work for some people they aren't really expected to track down the exact cause and fix it. I understand it is extremely annoying for the people having issues, and I agree in an ideal world it should work for all users, however it doesn't going off the problems you are having. It seems to work for a vast majority of people, and sadly that seems to suffice. But then again most pieces of software have issues like this, on one configuration it works fine, on others it acts oddly and doesn't behave as it should.

I'm not having any problems - haven't touched the Windows version for years! Just running with what I've read of people consistently knocking it :o

You could say that iTunes is predominantly Windows software, given the install base. I don't think any inferiority would encourage the average user to get a Mac, either, since they probably wouldn't have any concept of the "same program" working differently on an alternate OS.

I found itunes really slow and clunky on 64bit Vista, but on 32bit win7 it runs like a dream. Haven't tried 32bit Vista, but I'd be interested to see how well that ran.

Have you tried using WMP or MSN for mac? . . . they are terrible, buggy P.O.S programs, So I'd retract that singular braincelled statement if I were you.

But on a related note to this thread, I use both PC's and Macintosh's and I have to say that I've had no bother in syncing devices with iTunes on either platform. :)

I'm Sorry that you're having problems - must be a pain for you m8.

I however don't have a single problem with Itunes on my vista 64bit. Maybe I'm just lucky...

How does the fact that Microsoft aren't much better make my statement untrue? In their defence at least they use a native UI look and feel, which is more than can be said for the abortion that is QuickTime on Windows.

iTunes is worse on Windows than it is on OS X, no doubt about it.

I've experienced crashes on Windows 7 and it's generally slower, but never had any issues that have made me want to stop using iTunes.

Try looking on Apple Support documents, it will no doubt have a thread if a collection of people are having a problem. If it isn't there.. report it! :)

Very true. I apologise for my comments which were a little off the cuff. Although I will say that both Microsoft and Apple seem to lack when it comes to creating programs for each others operating systems. :)

Can I jsut say, I have never had any problems with itunes on windows or syncing to my ipod touch, updating it or anything. It works perfectly on my windows 7 PC and Vista Laptop.

I agree seems much better on OS X when i use it but i have been using it for years on my Windows XP PC with no problems at all. Though i would note that the newer versions seem to be a tad slower than the old ones, and i mean going back to version 6/7. For me it seemed to be when they added cover flow.

But never had an issue. :)
