Apple buys Pixelmator

Not sure how to feel on this one.
I use Pixelmator a LOT so on the front, Apple acquiring, tighter integration into Apple's silicon, bigger dev team with larger funding will always be a bonus. It does worry me though that Pixelmator could get "stripped" of it's good bits and those integrated into something like Photos or some other Apple branded roll across every device in a dumbed down kind of way app.

Pixelmator was the first app I bought when I moved over to Mac as the alternative to buying Photoshop and to this day remains my best spend in App store.

I get your concern, but I'm kind of weighing it off against the potential benefits in biting into adobe's dominance in the market. Their prices are getting ridiculous if you don't happen to have access to student pricing.

Agreed. I'll probably get it when Apple release their first version of it.

I'm wondering if pixelmator will discount over Black Friday personally, in which case I'll pick it up and see what kind of bone apple throws at people who already adopted the software down the line when they work on integrating it. I've been trying affinity to...Mixed effect, and no matter what the fanboys might insist, the gimp is just not an option - it just doesn't even touch the sides of the bowl for me.
