Basically I was plugging my speakers back into the socket and it seemed to have tripped the trip switch and then I turned everything back on and it was fine apart from my 20" Apple Cinema Display which will just show no sign of life.

Is it borked? I have registered the product with Apple and see what they say and then i'm going to talk to my accomodation company to see if I am covered with my room insurance.

Any ideas what could have caused this? The screen is plugged into a surge protector too, which in itself is supposed to insure components up to like £60,000 worth?

Yeah seems strange, have you got the option to try the monitor with a different lead and white box (could not think of a better word  )

Haven't got access to another powersupply im afraid, usually the monitor cable doesn't need to be plugged in because the small led would still flash on for a second and then go off but not even that is happening. Do you think it could be a blown fuse?

I have taken it out and its a 10A so i'm going to go out tomorrow and get one just to see if it could be that.

Take it to an apple repair centre and ask them to check the internal fuse

Luckily I live in central, so i'll go past the apple store today on regent st and ask them before I bring it in as it's a hefty old thing.

Cheers for the suggestions!

Thought you were getting a 30" ACD?

...could be the perfect opportunity if they deem it unfixable :D
