Apple Display Buzzing

Just noticed today that twice my screen has made a faint buzzing noise (electrical) and lasts about a second. It's the model that came out around 2008.

Any ideas what it might be? Sounds like it's coming from the screen rather than the power cord at the back, but hard to be sure as it has only happened twice in the last three hours or so.

Is it worth taking it in to an Apple store? Are they likely to fix it or swap it out?

Buzzing capcitor? Try altering the screen brightness when it's buzzing, if it starts to last longer than a second. My dell 2405 used to do something identical to what but in time it went away.

I have a Toshiba screen that buzzes until you turn the backlight up to 80%.

I dimmed the screen after reading your message (it is usually at full brightness, with flux kicking in at night time) - and the buzzing just happened again. Exactly the same.

It's literally for 1 second - don't have time to adjust anything before it has stopped.

I would take it back to Apple, from what i have heard they are very good with replacements etc
