Apple files patent for improving aesthetics of carbon fiber

If titanium, magnesium alloy, or carved billet aluminum weren't exotic enough, Apple has filed for a patent on a process to make aesthetically variable carbon fiber enclosures. The company could use the process to make casings for future Macs.

Carbon fibre design........

You mean the natural woven fibres of the material? (woven is a misleading term if you have seen what goes in an autoclave.. but that can stay in motors)

As for Apple's patent.. sounds ridiculously awesome!

From what I understand of the article, they aren't going for the carbon fibre look. All they seem to be doing is adding a carbon fibre veneer onto a carbon fibre base...

Then they'd just paint it any old colour as required.

Except you will have a premium cost version... pure lacquered carbon fiber.

I think MacBooks in the same colours as the previous Nanos would be a huge hit. Assuming the colour could be easily applied to the carbon fibre.
