Apple G4 Cube for £30

450Mhz, 1.2 g ram, 20 GB disc, speakers, 15" matching LCD screen Mac OSX 10.2.8--- Worth it?

Do these run silent?
Could this be used as a nice MP3/music player? What is the latest OS I could put on it ? Is there any way to put in a more powerful G4 processor?

Or would this be like using a Celeron 300 to do anything useful these days?

I think Leopard is the last OS that will run on PPC chips (not Snow leopard). But it will be very slow.

Leopard definately won't run on that machine - it needs an 800MHz G4 or above if I remember correctly.

Buy it though, even if it ends up as a jukebox, they're crazily cool machines!

I remember having an A1 sized poster of the Mac Cube coz I knew Id never be able to afford one!

Bringing back the mac cube , but making it the much wanted 'midi mac' would be excellent... with the size there's enough room for a PCI slot or 2, hard disk or 2, etc etc. Would be nice
