Apple HE and Support

Hi guys,

Apparently when you purchase via HE, you get 3 years of Applecare hardware support. Is this true because my serial number is only showing 1 year. I remember my brother buying his laptop via HE and managed to secure 3 years.

Apples warranty is known as Applecare. When you buy through the online HE store you get three years of Applecare hardware support.

My care got improved to 3 years about 2 weeks after purchase, they sent an email about it

Well it does say through the online HE store. You can get HE in an Apple store and over the phone too.

If you bought it in store, you don't get the HE warranty, even if you got the discount.

Strictly speaking it's not three years' Applecare, it's three years hardware warranty. Applecare is the whole package including phone technical support and so on, which is only included when you actually buy Applecare.

Re: warranty when bought as an HE purchase in store, I've not managed to work it out. When I worked at Apple, I did ask, and some of the Geniuseseseses I asked did say that quite often with students, the student would say it was out of warranty but then the warranty check would come up as in warranty even after say two years. This went for in store purchases as well as online, but I never got a definite answer because no one really knew.

Interesting. I'll see if I can swing the three year hardware warrenty. My item was purchased via RM and I have a feeling it wasn't purchased via the HE side of the site.

Where's the cheapest place to get Applecare for a 15" Pro?

I dont think you get 3 years hardware warranty in store. You do get a large discount on applecare though.
