Hey folks,

My question is, does the box down the right hand side of this webpage apply to purchases made in an Apple Store (a brick and mortar store)?

Specifically the part which says:

4. Special three year parts and labour coverage, with additional first-year warranty and support benefits, as standard

I bought a new MacBook the other day in store with Higher Education discount, and the store is refusing to honour the above site and have only giving me 1 year warranty. I've even got the Terms & Conditions for the Higher Education Agreement here which states in section 10.1.1:

10.1.1 All Apple-branded desktop and portable computer products shall be subject to a 36 calendar month warranty period commencing from the date of purchase (the date of your invoice).

My old MacBook was bought using the HE discount, and it received 3 year warranty and 1 year phone support. I'll be showing this thread no doubt to the manager of the store, so any input it greatly appreciated!

Well, I spoke to the manager of the Apple Store, and she had rang round numerous places, speaking to various teams to get a correct answer.

Apparently the Apple Retail Stores operate as a separate entity to the Online and Phone Stores. As such, the contracts that I quoted and showed them were not applicable to their store. I rang around myself, speaking to both Apple Support as well as the Apple Educational Phone order line, and they gave me the same answer.

So, I'm just off the phone to the Educational Phone line after ordering the same MacBook from there! I'll be taking this MacBook back to the Apple Retail Store for a refund (within 14 days).

Just a heads up to anyone who has ordered in the store under the belief that they have gained a 3 year warranty outside of the AppleCare extended warranty.
