Its the 12th anniversary this week of the release of the original iPhone..

Love or hate Apple you cant deny the impact this device has had.. now we all carry supercomputers in our pockets and cant imagine life before smartphones

I never got the original iPhone but do remember queuing up for a 3GS (which I still have in a box and it still works!) on release day. By that time we had an App Store and copy and paste with IOS3.. how did we manage before and how things have changed :)

My personal favorite was the 5, just loved the look of that one with the bevelled edge

I dropped and smashed one at Le Mans, got an insurance replacement when I got back to the UK and managed to drop that down the toilet. :D I was not a happy man at the time.

I think I started with a 4, then a 6, and now have an XS. So they are lasting me a good few years between upgrades too. Each time I've been able to sell the old one for a decent amount of money despite it being 4+ years old too.

I've had my X since launch, didn't see the need to upgrade to the XS and this years one doesn't look like a big step, but we shall see.

Not everybody. I manage perfectly well with my Nokia 1600 believe it or not. It must be nearly 20 years old now.

had the original iphone, then moved on to the 4, then the 5 - didn't like the 5 (can't remember why!) and switched back to the 4. still currently running an iphone6 which is coming up to 5 years old and still in perfect working order. should probably upgrade at some point in the near future. i'm not an apple fan boy by any means, the phone is the only apple product i've owned but despite what the haters say they are a great piece of kit. some argue they are overpriced but i doubt i'd still be using a samsung/lg/nokia/whoever mobile phone that was coming up to 5 years old and be able to say that it was in almost perfect working order.

Yep awesome phones.

I had the very origonal phone - wish id kept it now !

Then 3GS - then I went through a phase of 'I want to fiddle with phone tech' thinking android was 'freedom', then came back to the 4S - which was amaze, then another phase of 'rather tweak my phone than use it' - that's lasted some years until I jumped back to an 8+ :D, which was a fraction too big, now on an Xs.

I've finally reached a stage in my life where I just want stuff to work without hassle of tweaking it - so recently gone full apple, I had fun messing with other tech over the years, but just want a simple life now ! lol - get my work done, enjoy life, also I prefer apple mobile products because of the sheer speed - I got fed up of androids limited shelf life due to CPU power and various quirks each individual handset has, apples phones for me are just fast, and reliable.

First one I had was a 4S. Which my mum was still using up until Christmas. She’s now got my 6 which I’d have kept but wanted a bigger screen so I’m on an 8 plus.

They’re great.

I’m still surprised that the 5C wasn’t more of a success give how the finish and the bevelled edges came off of the 5 if you even looked at it in a funny way.

Had pretty much every one since the 3GS, a long love affair!

It's funny picking any of those older phones up because they're SO tiny compared to how big I remember them being at the time.

Yes they look like kiddies toys now.. remember at the time saying no way those big screen androids will catch on, how wrong was I !

Now running an X and see no reason to change or upgrade.

There was a TV series about time travel which featured the iphone called Journeyman. IIRC, he was able to find out any information from any time he was in using the phone. It didn't matter that he would not have a contract or a connection in the past.

My eldest has my old 4, it still does a job as an (un)glorified Touch, slow as hell but does what she can watch YouTube and other basic apps.

A 16GB black 3G was my first ever iPhone and I’ve had one of every generation since.

If I was to pick a favourite on appearance then It’s either the slate grey 5 or the matte black 7+.
