Apple iPod Video or Creative Zen Vision:M

As title really, i've been using a Sony NW-HD3 for the past couple of years and i'm absoloutely sick of SonicStage. Tonight I decided i'd format the drive and upload all my new music but I can't get the PC to recognise it.

Dunno whether to go for the iPod or the Vision:M, does anyone have experience with them?

I'm not really bothered about the whole video thing to be honest but I guess it's a nice extra. Most important is reliability, and the ease of transferring files. Size is important too.

Think i'm going to go for the iPod, just wondering though, has anyone used any of the alternative software for transferring files?

I keep all my music on a seperate hard drive and don't really want to be importing them across to my main drive just for the sake of it. Also if I was to reformat i'd loose all my songs in iTunes? Seems stupid...
