Apple keyboard - any good for gaming?

So iv spilt so much food in my keyboard over the years that i think its time to put the old dear out of its misery. Was wondering around the apple shop the other day and saw some fairly sexy looking USB keyboards which the salesman confirmed worked fine with a pc.

My questions is: are there any issues with using these for gaming? Anyone got one? What are they like to touch type with? I love the keyboard on my IBM thinkpad, its great!

P.S. wasnt sure if this should go in pc games or apple...opted for games
 
I could not use one for gaming, the lower row of keys need to be raised otherwise it's a pain in the butt to hold say CTRL for crouch or other keys and move at the same time. Too tedious otherwise which was why I opted for the Logitech diNovo for notebooks instead as it's keys have the same throw feedback as the Apple but the lower row is raised like a normal KB:

Other than that, very stylish keyboards those Apple ones are - I'd have one instantly had it not been for the above issue for FPS gaming :p
 
I loved my apple keyboard, it was a joy to use and game on. But it didn't survive when an entire bottle of shower gel emptied into it in my suitcase on the way home from a LAN.
 
I prefer my Zboard for gaming to my Apple keyboard (especially as it's the wireless version) but I do have a mate who uses it for gaming and he's very happy with it. It's horses for courses really, while it's not specifically built for gaming, if you're comfortable using it, then it's fine.

OT but, why did you have shower gel at the LAN? Was it a porno LAN?
 
Meh, my cheap Logitech one from a certain highstreet retailer with purple shirts does me fine! I don't particularly care about looks, only functionality, so a 'stylish' Apple one doesn't do much for me.
 
I can only recommend the Saitek eclipse (original) lovely key action. At the moment though I use a cheapo dell keyboard and to be honest it feels better than a lot of gaming keyboards, good key action, looks nice and it's cheap :)

Had a play with an apple keyboard myself and for typing (touch) it is great but for gaming im not to sure. A bit too low profile i would have though, as i think i would be always missing the key i wanted for some reason.

Other than that it might suit you fine or it might not. I personally would go have another play with it.

I've got that keyboard at home and I couldn't recommend it enough. Great action and feel to the keys. I use it for all sorts of things (lots of touch typing, gaming etc). I always used to say any old keyboard would do, but that keyboard is miles better than anything I have ever used.

Uggh we've got loads of those keyboards at work and I think they are horrible. If the Cherry keyboard I mentioned above is the best keyboard I've ever used, that Dell one is by far the worst. Maybe we have older models or something, but all the ones I've used are awful. :p

To be honest I love my cheapy Dodgytech keyboard that I got with my KB/Mouse pack (EX 110 I think it is). The mouse is hard with aim with but the keyboard is just nice and basic. That Apple keyboard is however, very nice looking.
 
I'm a big fan of my Sidewinder X6 keyboard. Detaching the number pad or moving it to the other side comes in useful surprisingly often.

Dont like the apple keyboards, bit too low profile for me.

My Saitek Eclipse v1 is still by far one of the bset keyboards ive used :)
