Apple Keyboard

I'm thinking about picking up an Apple Keyboard tomorrow but I have two questions really...

1) How easy will it be to re-program the keys, I'm sure I've seen a program that does it but I can't find it at the moment.
2) Will the USB ports on the side work?

Only want to plug my mice into the keyboard so USB 1.0 should be fine.
