I can't seem to find a review of this codec. Do any of the iTunes users here use it? Does it do the job or is it a waste of time?

Depends what you mean by do the job. It does it exactly what is says on the tin really, it gives you a compressed lossless verison of your cds with the ability to have tags and can be played in itunes and on ipods.

I've tried it in the past and found it fine, but I stick with FLAC for my cd collection as its open source.

From what I can gather the compression the Apple codec gives when compared to other Lossless codecs is very minimal. There are others that do the same thing, with better end results. :)

Bingo. :)

That means that while Apple might decide to change their format or discontinue support, FLAC will always be usable becasue the source is available.
