Apple Pay Launch - How will it be activated?

Apple Pay via the Watch wouldn't work for me on the Tube the other day. Worked great on the overground train into central London, but wouldn't work on any of the barriers in Waterloo or Charing cross for me. Switched to Oyster the first time it happened, then used my iPhone instead the next time.

Looked like a right cabbage after trying 3 different barriers each time to no avail.

I wonder if maybe my card got flagged for fraud perhaps? The bank usually call you though when that happens, don't they?

Careful if chopping and changing devices... Cant remember where I read it, but if you get a saving by doing multiple journeys, they need to be completed on the same device. Otherwise you get charged full whack. This becomes very important when you might be running out of juice for your devices!

Yeah, this was on entry to the system I was having issues. Checked in and out fine on the overground. Then it wouldn't let me check in to the underground. Not had a chance to test it again yet.

Woman in Ikea was completely bewildered when I paid for some stuff with my watch.

She couldn't comprehend her till was saying transaction approved yet I'd not provided any card or cash :D

Just saw this post on MacRumors - http://www.macrumors.com/2015/08/14/apple-pay-lloyds-bank-uk/

Llyods Bank are sending out emails to customers stating Apple Pay is coming "Very Soon". I hope this isn't limited to just Lloyds Bank but also includes the other banks within the Lloyds Banking Group - Halifax and Bank Of Scotland as well?

nice! just tried adding my lloyds debit card, before it would error saying not supported, now it comes up with T&Cs for Lloyds Apple Pay and then errors once you accept. This means its coming soon as same happened about a week before it went live with Nationwide

They all use the same backend systems so they should all go live at the same time. Similar thing that happend with HSBC and First Direct.

Tried it a few times but to be honest it's not very useful if you have a contactless card anyway (it's actually slower). This is highlighted when you are on the tube, the lag to do your fingerprint etc annoys everyone behind you.

I did like however some apps allow you to use Apple Pay (like Hungryhouse). That is useful.

No idea why all banks wouldn't offer it from the start anyway. If one bank can then surely all can. Shows banks have no loyalty to their customers wants and needs.

Whilst it is a bit slower... It stops people (such as someone behind the bar, or a waiter/waitress) taking your card and waving across the terminal before you've even had a chance to look at the amount (which annoys me to no end!). So being a tad slower is an easy compromise for increased security :)

Barclays are taking their sweet time with it all.

Cause some stupid manager somewhere thought bpay would be the future, its going to crash and burn and then they will rush to adopt apple pay. Doubt we see much movement since they will think its best to give bpay time too really get into users hands.

I have as yet not managed to get it work with my 6 plus despite half a dozen goes. It Either says 'done' and then fails on the terminal or just says 'hold closer' - faulty NFC is my thought given I've used it successfully in hungryhouse which doesn't require the NFC chip.

Saw a piece on BBC news earlier about the limit increase. People were using contactless to pay for donkey rides on the beach. How come they are all set to accept contactless and yet Tesco aren't?
