Apple recruitment seminar

Now, correct me if I am wrong here, but...

Selling in an Apple store is not really a "Sales" job in the true sense of the word. You are not "selling" anything to anyone, you become a box shifter.

99% of people who come into the apple store do not need to be sold to. I am willing to bet that almost all the people who come in and buy an iPhone 4 for example, came in and said "I would like to buy an iPhone 4"

Genuine question... How often does an iStore employee encounter a balanced and rational customer who needs to be persuaded to buy an apple product over its competitors.?

I don't see what's funny.

It's a recruitment seminar. For Apple. It's not a fancy way of saying a job at the Apple Store, it's a perfectly normal way of saying... Apple recruitment seminar.

Are you familiar with the term seminar?

I'd agree with the previous poster you were quoting - the last 'seminar' I attended was at university. Sounds like this is a group interview for a retail job - 'recruitment seminar' is in a sense a fancy way of saying that.

Out of interest why is it so competitive to work in the Apple store - are people trying to get the job because they think its 'cool' or is there a chance of transferring to a non-retail job with apple in the future?

Some people just need good knowledgable advice on why they should spend £x on a computer. Most people on this forum might know about or be able to find out the features and details of an Apple product, but someone that sees an advert on TV and then walks into the store will need further information.
