The update describes various fixes including

- Improves performance and reliability of Intel Core 2 Duo Processors (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro)

- Fixes issues with Boot Camp (iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro)
- Fixes fan behavior (Mac Pro)

Interestingly enough, only some Santa Rosa machines are affected by this EFI update

Either they've not had many issues or they're still working on them :)

I didn't have to update :)

I originally thought it was for the Santa Rosa line, but it's obviously just random models affected.

I did have to install a "MacBook / MacBook Pro File System Journaling" update though lol

I assume this update would show itself in Software Update if my machine required it? I haven't seen anything yet

No EFI update required here ..
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB

Did get a journal update pop up - basically switches on journalling if your system does as some didn't have this running when installed.

My MacBook from December last year needed it.

Not really noticed any difference except it's reporting a much higher battery runtime now when not plugged in :)

Just updated my MacBook.

I can't really notice anything hugely different :)
It's a firmware update.

The only real difference would be reliability and a slight performance boost, if any :)
