Yesturday to my surprise i discovered my ipod nano 2gb has "leaked" inside the screen and now refuses to be recognised in windows or charge etc. (I'll post pictures later) :(

It looks like some kind of liquid has leaked from inside the main display and gone down the screen in a line. The iPod itself is physically in tact on the outside, and i havent dropped the ipod at all in the six months ive had it.

I've decided to RMA to apple (will be sending off an email after this) but i'm worried they may not repair or replace the ipod because of the folllowing:

-The ipod is scratched somewhat back and front, but was in perfect working order (been scratched really from day 1 due to the fact i was unaware of the nature of the material and didnt really take notice until it was too late)
-All i have is the iPod USB cable, the original headphones and the ipod itself (no packaging)
-I'm unsure as to whether i still have the reciept when bought from a well known competitor. However, it has not been a year since purchase so im not sure where i stand in terms of warrenty etc. :(

I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experiances with Apple, and whether it was an easy process.

Thanks. :)

hi
you only need the ipod iteslf not even the recipt is needed, just go through the warrenty on apple homepage, the only thing that is not covered is cracked screens so depending how your screen is you should be ok
it does not matter if it is scratched or not you will get a refurbished one back which looks like new

Ah, i see. :)

Yeah the screen on the outside is perfectly fine, just the odd scratch here and there.

However, i cant seem to find the area where you login and go through the process of selecting your area and where you describe the issue and then send off the email. (done this once before with headphones :o )

Edit: found it. :)

Well it arrived after only 5 days of me sending off the email regarding the defective part. :)

Though "oh what great support" and all was well. Grabbed a cover from john lewis and made sure not a scratch was on it. Used it for about 6 days and then didnt use it over the weekend. Guess the battery ran out slowly over the weekend. Looked at the screen and there were a few "dots". Wiping the screen didn't help and i was a little p****d off to say the least. They were actually small droplets of water inside the screen. Left it out to dry for a day. :o

When i returned, the whole screen was covered in a dark shade of black and more liquids had somehow gotten inside. Again, left it out to dry and it then looked normal (apart from the droplets, they havent dissapeared) and then decided to connect it to the USB to charge. :(

Guess what? No go. Flashing black and white screen in a random pattern all over the screen. Tried it again with a second USB cable and then got nothing on screen. Ipod still doesnt turn on and isnt recognised in windows.

Ahhhgggg!
