Apple 'Spring Forward' Event 09/03/2015

If you're just talking about SSD benchmarks, every MBA and rMBP has had a much faster SSD since 2011.

2012/Early 2013 = faster SATA
Late 2013/2014 = even faster PCI-E
Early 2015 = even faster PCI-E with extra lanes (1GB/s +)

No I got confused.

I meant the Core-M chip in the 13" Macbook vs the old I5 in the 2011 Air.

Tim from Cupertino city cal was one of the members of the public who rang into mad money on cnbc so any apple aficionados might want to look up the vid.

yeah is anyone actually thinking of buying that new netbook, erm macbook?
I was only really interested in the tweaks to the rMBP 13". Still thinking of selling my air 13" and old MBP to get one.

No, and not directly, but there are people on other forums e.g. MacRumors who are. The majority of people on places like here and there don't represent the kind of customer the MacBook is aimed at though - if you want an 'us vs. them' just go in any Apple Store and look at who is shopping in there - they won't be plugging into a 40" 4K monitor when they get home or doing anything CPU/GPU intensive, so Apple have made what is more or less a Macbook as portable (and barely more powerful, at least to start with) as an iPad, whilst still drawing a hard line between iOS and OS X.

Given time it will get priced closer to what the Air is now as that line is phased out and things will go full circle in terms of there just being MacBooks and MacBook Pros for those who require more power/connectivity.

I think the reception to the new MacBook is very similar to the original MacBook Air.

It had lower power CPU than the entry level MacBook at the time, only 1 USB Port and the non-SSD version was a horribly 4200rpm PATA drive. And it cost nearly twice as much.

Does anyone know how the single USB C connector will work when you want to connect an External display, various USB devices and the power connector to charge it?

Are apple releasing an adapter that will allow multiple devices, power and an external display simultaneously?

Edit: to answer my own question guess this is the adapter required.

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MJ1K2AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter

Bit annoying it only supports HDMI and not display port as that limits the hd connectivity options.

Have a 13" rMBP, its an amazing machine, its light at 1.5KG but has a nice dense feel which is different from the air, a solid amount of power, great battery life and that display.

I still have a 2011 MBPand the battery will still give me 7 hours life used all day at work

Ok doesn't have a retina display and is heavier than the newer versions but I paid 2k for it way back then and is still running strong
