If you bought it through HE, I would advise you do get the 3 year Applecare for 58 quid. I think there is some people on this forum saying that you get the 3 years free if you but through HE online. I did so, did a warranty check on my machine and it says you only get the standard 1 year :( possibly it used to be the case, it isn't now.

The guy on the phone said it was for the phone support. I listened in closely when he said it because I was expecting it.

When I said no, he said that the phone bills to technical support could be as high as £35 but I still said I didn't want it, to which I think he was a bit surprised/disappointed.

If worst comes to the worst, you can always pick up the AppleCare on the bay for a hell of a lot cheaper than the post-purchase retail price, even if it wouldn't be as cheap as £58.

Sorry of this is a repeat question, but whats the difference between the higher education store and the further education prices (apparantly you have to phone for this?).

Further education has a higher percentage off.

You can phone or go through your University network.

It's the other way around ;)

FE (Further Education; i.e. college) gets less discount than HE (Higher Education; i.e. University) :)

I've ordered so many things over the phone it's a joke to be honest.

The only thing I didn't call in was my current Mac Pro, but I have ordered top-spec iMacs with HE discount and no one battered an eyelid.
