Apple Store in Belfast!

Oh dear, I don't think I've seen many more things as sad as what I just watched there!

It's people from Northern Ireland. It's the same with the local news.

Put them on the tv or any sort of media platform and they make complete prunes of themselves.

Sad gits. Also love how the "graphic artist" guy describes the apple logo as "beautiful", a word that seems to spew from Steve Jobs hole every 5 seconds.

Well, an interesting day really. I was there at 8am this morning - any earlier was really going to be a bit mad. Didn't seem like too much of a wait for an hour really. With about 5 minutes to go all the staff coming running out high fiving everyone. Fair enough as I'm sure they are pretty passionate about their stuff.

The sad bit was the clapping, shouting and high fives as we paraded down the store after getting t-shirts. I felt like such a spanner with 30+ people clapping while I was trying to hide my embarrassment!

There really were some freak heads about. One guy even had an apple tattoo on his leg. Im sorry dude but get a flipping life! I was expecting the mac bunch of guys to be much cooler but to be honest i think windows fanboys are maybe even more conservative. Im guessing all the emo heads were more ipody people than macs but still they are a pain in the backside to have to look at. And as for the double lip piercing homo infront of me checking out other guys walking past it just really crowned off the bad state of affairs that our world is in!

All in all though the new store is nice and hope to make good use of it over the next while.

LOL I am in the Video I am the guy who is being interviewed I say "We are big fans off apple the brand...etc" And yes I was with the first 2 guys in the video we where thier from lyk 12.30:rolleyes:

Why though.....

I just don't understand why you would que up for the opening of a store, just for some boring t-shirt. Did you even buy anything. The whole thing just strikes me as being so bizzare.

It looks like a tiny shop as well, very narrow. I also don't get the waiting in line for hours and hours just for a shop opening  It's not as though it's only open for a limited time, or that they're going to run out of something. A product launch where supplies are limited I understand, but not the opening of a shop.

"Sad, we know, we know" says it all really.

Well to be fair, people queue outside the likes of Ikea when they open a new shop. I guess it's wanting to see what the shop offers along with being one of the first people in there, that exclusivity.

Personally I wouldn't do it but it's far from an Apple only thing.

Also agree with you, the shop looks stupidly narrow, I was hoping it extends out beyond that but it's hard to tell.

The store opening's that have caused hype and big ques have been because they have had an offer or something exclusive on.... ie.

- Kate Moss collection at Topshop - Was an exclusive with limited supply, so ques were huge.

- Primark Oxford Street opening - Cheaper prices and first to get into the huge store that had more stock than any other shop in the country.

- Ikea Opening at Edmonton - Cheaper deals, bargins, freebies, competitions.

- Apple Stores - Ques for the iPhone... wanting to be the first to get one.

Now they all offered something. This Apple store opening in Belfast offered nothing but a free t-shirt..... So why bother?

As I said, that exclusivity. It may be sad but people will want to say they were the first in the Apple store in Belfast. Or in any City.

The country has been crying out for an Apple store for ages and given how people feel about Apple as a company, it's not surprising at all.

People in Belfast queued overnight for the opening of Ikea, another shop which took a long time to come here. I think there was an offer on for the first person/couple to get through the doors but it still a load more people there.

There are certain things in life that you really shouldn't admit to.
