Anyone know what the apple student discount is? (how much will a macbook white cost me)

I also heard that you get 3 years free apple care too? Is that correct?

14% off, so basically the price minus the VAT.

Yep, but that doesn't include phone support as that costs extra.

It's about 14%.

Base White MacBook costs £618.70 and comes with a 3 year hardware warranty yes.

When I am configuring the macbook spec it gives the option for this:

Higher Education AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook/MacBook Air - Auto-enroll

...but it costs an extra £46? Or do I just select none and get it automatically?

New macbook it is for me then

Is it cheaper to buy the upgraded RAM and HDD and fit it myself or get it from Apple...does it void the hardware warranty?

Those two items won't effect the warranty.

RAM is generally found cheaper elsewhere (i.e. half the price), same is true for the HDD.

You should note that if you upgrade you really should keep the old parts just incase thus negating any savings.
