hi just a quick question i bought an ipod 160 gb just over a month ago

the battery seems screwed to me

as in i charged it fully thursday night used it for 3 hours friday then its been sat on off since then today i find outs its battery is flat

this cant be right i would imagine ?

if i return this to the store will they swap it for me?

If you've updated etc, Apple will happily help you, they will replace the whole unit if there is something wrong with it.

took it in and got some rude guy (not sure if manager but somebody senior)

i explained i bought my ipod just over 4 weeks ago and it was having this fault

he insisted that i had to take it to the technical guy. i complained about it he said it was over 2 weeks and thats what happens over 2 weeks.

i complained and explained that the 2 weeks return was if your not happy with the product im happy with it but its knackered.

he scowled a lot asked me how long i was at the trafford centre for i said 1 hour as i just came in to sort the ipod out. he said i had to come back in 4 hours to see the technical guy.

i asked exactly how he was going to check my battery ? he scowled a bit more went off round the back came back and finally grudgeingly gave me a replacement.

I was concerned about there customer service / repairs policy looks like i was right about it and quite frankly very disapointed.

anyway i got my replacement and a new reciept / 2 week return i believe.

shame because i really do like it its my 1st ipod and i just want it to work with its supposed 40 hour life span as i listen to it about 6/7 hours a day 5 days a week.

anyway thanks for the advice chaps.

least now ill be skipping there notebooks because quite frankly if this is the way there customer service goes i wont be buying another Ipod and i wont be buying there laptops.

ps : am i best not to update this as i dont think i noticed the issue until the latest patch / update?

far from it i felt very mistreated tbh

anyway new ipod now going to avoid the 1.0.2 update as i think this is when the issue started. i remember commenting to the wife how i was over the moon with the battery life for the 1st few weeks etc

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience :(

I've had totally the opposite. I took my MacBook in with a flickering screen issue and typically it wouldn't show the problem in the store. But the 'Genius' at the Genius Bar took my word for it and booked it in for an entire LCD and inverter replacement all under warrenty.

I got a phone call within 24hours saying the work was done!

perhaps this is my issue tbh im not used to having to deal with a genius ?

and maybe why i got my replacement because its damn hard to test a battery without taking my ipod off me for a few days which is not going to happen when its 4 weeks old.

maybe if it was older then i would accept that but not in such a short space of time.

i just know if id got that from argos etc they would swap it without any grief whatsoever.

anyway at the moment in time my plans to buy a notebook have gone down the pan.

maybe if i have any other issues they can redeem themselves.

I've not had a bad experience with Apple support either tbh. When I took my MBP to a store on a Sunday I was shocked at how busy the Genius was, but, he still managed to find 5 mins for me, without me making an appointment.

Perhaps you just met someone on a bad day? :p

Obviously met somebody with a Sunday morning hangover, Apple usually replace stuff without hassle if it is in warranty. My sister must have had her 4th Gen iPod replaced 4-5 times now.
